ZANZIBAR: THE upgraded Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar continues to attract major international airlines, with South Africa’s Airlink launching direct flights to the Isles. The new route is expected to boost tourism, trade and regional connectivity as the government expands into new African markets. Airlink’s Executive Manager for Legal Affairs, Nambita Mazwi, said the new service will enhance travel opportunities and support Zanzibar’s growing tourism sector, noting the islands’ strong global appeal driven by their culture, beaches and improved visa systems.
