President of Real Madrid Florentino Pérez has vowed to sanction the biggest transfer fee in Real Madrid’s history if he is re-elected as club president on Sunday, hinting at a major summer signing as part of a renewed “Galácticos” vision. According to BBC Sport on Friday, speaking ahead of the vote, Pérez said the club is preparing an ambitious move for a top-level player from a major European side. “On Tuesday or so, I’m going to make an offer to a major Champions League club for a great player. It would be the largest transfer fee Real Madrid has ever paid in its history,” he said. Pérez added that the planned target is an attacking player, though he declined to reveal the identity. The Real Madrid president also ruled out several high-profile names linked with the club in recent speculation. “Olise is a great player, but it’s not Olise. It’s not Doku either,” he said, also dismissing Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane and Manchester City forward Erling Haaland as targets. The election comes at a challenging time for the Spanish giants, with Real Madrid finishing the season without a major trophy for the second year running and trailing rivals Barcelona in La Liga. Nearly 100,000 club members are expected to vote in Sunday’s election, which will determine whether Pérez continues his long-running second spell as president or is replaced by challenger Enrique Riquelme.
