Superintendent of Police Suneel Sheoran reiterated that criminal action would be taken against offenders involved in ganja trafficking and other narcotic substances, stating that such activities were detrimental to the future of youth and students.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday (June 5, 2026), the SP stated that from January to May 2026, eight ganja cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 23 individuals and the seizure of 23 kg of ganja. He emphasised that the police are committed to making the district ganja-free and maintaining strict vigilance over habitual offenders.
“Intensified surveillance is in place across the district, while coordination with multiple departments is strengthening awareness programs in schools, colleges, and public places,” Mr. Suneel Sheoran said.
The SP cautioned that strict legal action, including the invocation of the PD Act wherever necessary, will be taken against offenders. He appealed to the public to share information on illegal activities, assuring that the identities of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
