The offenders were apprehended during a surveillance operation aimed at ensuring the safety and security of women and children in public places. Petty cases were registered against them under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 70(C) of the Hyderabad City Police Act.
The accused were produced before the court of M. Bhaskar, VII Special Judicial Magistrate, Nampally, on Thursday (June 4). After hearing the arguments, the court convicted all five accused and sentenced each of them to three days’ simple imprisonment besides imposing a fine of ₹1,000.
