Before Stardom With… Juliana Oluwole

Could you tell us about yourself? My name is Juliana Oluwole. I am from Edo State. I was born in the 80s to the family of Mr and Mrs Oboh. I began my education in Lagos State and attended Community Grammar School, Ipaja, Lagos. I obtained my National Certificate in Education in 2007, and got married to Mr Sunkanmi Oluwole in 2010. We are blessed with lovely children. At what age did you become a singer? I joined the children’s choir at a very young age and eventually started leading the choristers. I have loved music since childhood and, by the grace of God, I also learned to play the samba and drums while growing up. What inspired you in the music world? I naturally love music; music is my life. It is what I know how to do best. Did you encounter challenges on your journey to success? Yes, I faced many challenges. Initially, I had no one to guide me. One day, during my church’s quarterly programme, Olorun Agbara, a man of God, Evangelist Olayinmika Baba (Atabatubu), was invited to minister. He also sings. During his sermon, he said one could be a gospel music minister and still teach professionally. It felt like the message was directed at me. Immediately after the service, I ran to him, knelt down, and told him about my passion for music. I asked him to guide me, and he agreed. That was in 2014. He produced my first album titled Alatileyin Mi in 2015, and I launched it on November 22, 2015, at CAC Ibudo Agbara, Lagos State. Since then, God has been helping me. I truly appreciate all my fans at home and abroad. In the music ministry, you must understand that not everyone will love you, but God will always assign certain people to support and appreciate your style of music. At some point, it appeared you stepped away from the industry. Is that true? I have never been away from music. Music is my life and gives me joy. Everything I have achieved today came through music. Even during serious challenges in 2021 and 2022, I held firmly to my calling and continued in music ministry.
