Camila had bravely battled a rare and aggressive bone cancer since she was 14. Her poignant posthumous letter, expressing peace with her passing and the exhaustion from her struggle, had previously resonated widely on social media. Following the emotional tribute, the event proceeded with its traditional royal procession and the veneration of Nossa Senhora Aparecida, accompanied by a spirited opening with young boys playing the "berrante" (a type of horn). The night also marked the start of the bull riding competitions, a significant part of the festival which celebrates a 20-year partnership between the Professional Bull Riders and the Clube dos Cavaleiros de Americana.
