Previously, the stress was commonly placed on the last syllable, "kurkumá". However, the institute now officially recognizes the stress on the penultimate syllable, "kúrkuma", as the norm. This change reflects evolving linguistic usage and aims to standardize the word's pronunciation in modern Russian.
