Before the printing of paper currency evolved to become the sophisticated process it is today, banks would struggle with widespread counterfeit notes that were difficult for bank tellers to spot. In response, they started training their tellers to study the various types of fake notes, but that did not help because counterfeit money would also change over time. Historically, banks faced significant challenges with counterfeit currency due to evolving forgery techniques. Initial attempts to train tellers by studying fake notes proved ineffective. The most successful method involved immersing tellers in handling, counting, and examining genuine banknotes until they could instantly detect fakes by touch alone due to their intimate familiarity with authentic currency.
This principle of deep familiarity with authenticity is crucial for recognizing false paths or compromises that deviate from one's personal vision and goals.
