Authorities in Larissa have dismantled a criminal organization involved in fraud and extortion, with the group allegedly amassing over 777,500 euros. The operation led to the arrest of one individual and the identification of another, who was already incarcerated. This follows an earlier phase where four family members were apprehended for selling gold sovereigns at prices below market value.
Further investigation revealed the involvement of these individuals, plus an additional incarcerated member, in nine new fraud cases, one fraud and extortion case, one embezzlement, two thefts, and one robbery. A coordinated police raid in Larissa and Katerini also uncovered weapons, ammunition, and various other items, including cash and vehicles.
This case highlights the ongoing threat of sophisticated fraud and extortion schemes that can cause significant financial harm to victims.
