Kerala sets up expert panel to study DMRC high-speed rail proposal

The Kerala government has established a four-member expert committee to evaluate a high-speed rail proposal from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This proposed Kerala High Speed Railway (KHSR) aims to connect Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur via a 473.2-km elevated corridor with 23 stations, designed for trains operating at up to 180 kmph. The project, spearheaded by technocrat E. Sreedharan, is presented as an alternative to a previous rail initiative. The committee will assess the project's technical, financial, environmental, and socio-economic feasibility over the next three weeks.
