The Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) Mwanza Campus is nearing the completion of the Eastern Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration project (EASTRIP). This initiative, funded by the World Bank, has significantly upgraded the campus's infrastructure, including new teaching blocks and student hostels. A key development is the establishment of a fully equipped leather processing facility that functions as a teaching factory, providing students with practical, real-world production experience.
The DIT Mwanza Campus is now emerging as a center for leather innovation and entrepreneurship in the Lake Zone, fostering creativity and supporting young innovators. This focus on hands-on training and product development aims to equip graduates with the skills needed for self-employment and to contribute to the local economy.
This project is enhancing technical education and fostering innovation in a key industrial sector, potentially boosting regional economic development and creating new employment opportunities.
