Yakani said the President’s visit, particularly his reception in Wau where large crowds turned out, reflects a long-standing public demand for direct interaction between leadership and communities. “We hope that similar tour will be extended to the region of Equatoria and Upper Nile. Upon the arrival of His Excellency President to Wau, the seat of Western Bahr el Ghazal State, massively His Excellency President was received. We appreciate citizens for that,” Yakani said. He added that citizens are facing worsening living conditions, including delayed salaries and rising costs of living. “Some citizens are facing hard life due to the delay regular payment of the civil servants’ salaries,” he said. Yakani also raised concern over insecurity, saying communities are suffering due to what he described as politically motivated armed violence. “Some citizens in some parts of the country are paying a very expensive price with their lives and properties due to the political motivated deadly armed sponsored violence among our communities,” he said. He called on President Kiir to issue concrete directives aimed at ending communal fighting, improving security, and regulating checkpoints, which he said are contributing to rising market prices and disrupting trade. Yakani further urged citizens to use the President’s regional engagements to openly raise their concerns on governance, security, and service delivery issues.
