What do free trade deals with India, South America and Australia mean for Latvia?
Does anyone know or remember the exact Trump tariffs vis-à-vis the European Union? I don’t, I shall admit. But given all direct impact on trade with the US (smaller) and the indirect impact on trade (also smaller) via confusion and hesitation, postponement of investment etc., it is nice to see that the EU (some 450 million people) has managed free trade deals with three very big players.
The European Union has successfully negotiated new free trade agreements with India, South America, and Australia. These deals involve a significant economic bloc of approximately 450 million people. The agreements are seen as a positive development, particularly in light of past trade uncertainties, such as the previous U.S. tariffs on EU goods. While the direct impact of those tariffs was limited, the indirect effects, including investment hesitation, were noticeable.
These new trade partnerships are crucial for strengthening the EU's global economic position and mitigating the risks associated with trade protectionism.
