Zelenskiy: Putin’s response to meeting proposal shows he does not want to end war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday that Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s rejection of his proposal for a meeting to end more than four years off conflict showed that the Kremlin had no wish to end the war. “Unfortunately, the Russian side is once again choosing war — everyone hear the response. A weak response,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address. “I think this response will have disappointed many in the world.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin's reaction to a proposed meeting indicates a lack of desire to conclude the ongoing conflict. Zelenskiy characterized the Russian response as "weak" and suggested it would be met with global disappointment. He believes this demonstrates Russia's preference for continued warfare over seeking a resolution.
This statement highlights the perceived intransigence of Russia in ending the protracted conflict, impacting international efforts towards peace.
