The phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Sun and Earth, casting a shadow that completely blocks the Sun's light in specific areas. Observers in parts of Greenland, Iceland, northern Spain, and northeastern Portugal will witness totality, experiencing a brief period of darkness.
