Following an exchange of fire between Iran and the United States, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to "completely close" the Strait of Hormuz to oil and gas tankers. The U.S. military reported intercepting and destroying four drones launched by Iran towards the strategic waterway. In retaliation, Iran reportedly fired ballistic missiles at two U.S. military bases located in Kuwait.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies, and any disruption there could significantly impact international oil prices and trade.
