Urobili tak pri príležitosti 82. výročia vylodenia spojencov v Normandii.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico visited Dunkirk, France, to honor Czechoslovak soldiers who fought there during World War II. He commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy landings alongside the city's mayor, Patrice Vergriet. Fico highlighted the significant role of Czechoslovak troops, particularly the armored brigade, in blocking German forces in Dunkirk from late 1944 until May 1945, a period during which 167 Czechoslovak soldiers lost their lives. The visit aimed to acknowledge this often-overlooked contribution to the Allied victory and the end of the war.

The visit underscores the importance of remembering the diverse contributions and sacrifices of all Allied forces, including those from smaller nations like Czechoslovakia, in the fight against fascism.
