Smart Shirt Tracks Workouts—and Goes Straight to the Wash

Cornell University researchers have created a smart T-shirt called SeamFit that accurately tracks exercise and posture using flexible conductive threads integrated into the seams. This innovative garment avoids bulky sensors and restrictive fits, maintaining the comfort and appearance of a regular shirt. A small, detachable circuit board collects movement data, which an AI model analyzes to identify exercises and count repetitions with high precision. The SeamFit shirt has demonstrated an 89 percent accuracy in exercise detection and 93.4 percent in exercise classification during testing with volunteers.
