Software company Kove has developed a new solution called Software-Defined Memory (SDM) that pools and dynamically allocates external server memory. This approach allows for faster processing speeds than traditional local memory and has demonstrated substantial improvements for clients. For instance, one client saw a 60-fold reduction in the time needed to run complex AI models, while another experienced up to a 54 percent decrease in server power consumption. Kove's CEO, John Overton, highlights that meeting memory demands is a critical concern, especially as AI and machine learning algorithms require vast amounts of data.
This innovation matters because it addresses a critical bottleneck in AI development, potentially enabling faster and more energy-efficient computation for increasingly data-intensive applications.
