Exploring the Science and Technology of Spoken Language Processing

Sydney has successfully secured the bid to host the Interspeech 2026 Conference, the premier global event for spoken language processing. The bid was led by Associate Professor Michael Proctor of Macquarie University, in collaboration with researchers from the University of NSW, representing the Australasian Speech Science and Technology Association. The conference aims to highlight the region's diverse linguistic landscape and focus on under-resourced languages. This significant event is expected to attract approximately 1,200 international participants to Sydney.

Hosting Interspeech 2026 in Sydney will elevate the profile of Australasian speech science research and foster greater attention to the region's linguistic diversity on a global stage.
