Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli secured pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix following a dramatic qualifying session. The 19-year-old Italian delivered his fastest lap at the very end of the session, narrowly beating Max Verstappen of Red Bull by just 0.043 seconds. Verstappen will therefore start alongside Antonelli on the front row. Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc qualified in third and fourth respectively, failing to meet pre-qualifying expectations. Red Bull's Isack Hadjar qualified fifth, with Antonelli's teammate George Russell in sixth.
Antonelli's pole position is significant as it places the championship leader at the front of the grid for one of Formula 1's most prestigious and challenging races.
