Former chief inspector Bruno Giordano has criticized the government's handling of funds allocated to combat illegal labor exploitation, particularly concerning agricultural workers. Giordano stated that out of 200 million euros designated for this purpose, only eleven projects have been initiated, and the national portal for reporting and addressing these issues has not been launched. These funds, sourced from the PNRR (Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan), will expire on June 30th, leaving a significant portion unused.
The failure to utilize these funds risks perpetuating exploitative labor practices and leaves vulnerable workers unprotected.
