Scientists have identified a new species of ghost pipefish in the waters off Australia, officially named Solenostomus snuffelupagus. This unique creature bears a striking resemblance to the beloved "Sesame Street" character Mr. Snuffleupagus, inspiring its name. The discovery came after decades of searching by marine biologists David Harasti and Graham Short, who were captivated by initial sightings of the unusual, hairy fish. They finally confirmed the species' existence in 2021 after divers reported seeing similar-looking fish near the Great Barrier Reef.
