Instead, the system continues to operate, with all monitoring dashboards appearing healthy, yet its decisions gradually become incorrect. This phenomenon occurs because the system's behavior drifts away from its intended function over time, often due to subtle issues in coordination, timing, or feedback loops across multiple components.
This emerging failure mode is critical because it undermines the reliability of increasingly autonomous systems, making them difficult to detect and correct.
