ঐতিহাসিক ৬ দফা দিবস আজ

Today, June 7th, marks the historic Six-Point Movement Day in Bangladesh. This day commemorates the significant chapter initiated by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1966. He presented the Six-Point Demand in Lahore on February 5th of that year, protesting the exploitation and discriminatory policies of the then West Pakistani ruling elite. The movement gained momentum on June 7th, when a general strike called by the Awami League in East Bengal to press for these demands was met with police and EPR gunfire on unarmed citizens. This resulted in the martyrdom of many, including Monu Miah, Shofiq, and Shamsul Haque, in Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Tongi, solidifying the Six-Point Demand as the charter of Bengali liberation.

The Six-Point Movement was a pivotal step towards Bangladesh's independence, representing a crucial articulation of Bengali political and economic aspirations.
