Vanaf vandaag hebben alle werknemers in de Europese Unie het recht te weten hoeveel collega's die hetzelfde werk doen verdienen. Dat staat zo in de richtlijn over loontransparantie uit 2023, maar enkel Italië, Slovakije en Litouwen hebben die op tijd in nationale wetgeving omgezet. België heeft de Europese Commissie 6 maanden extra de tijd gevraagd. Werkgeversorganisaties vragen intussen om bijsturing.
As of today, employees across the European Union have gained the legal right to inquire about the salaries of colleagues performing similar work. This stems from a 2023 EU directive on pay transparency, intended to promote equal pay. However, only a few member states, including Italy, Slovakia, and Lithuania, have fully integrated this right into their national laws by the deadline. Belgium has requested an additional six months to implement the directive, while employer organizations are seeking adjustments to the regulations.
This new right aims to address gender pay gaps and ensure fairer compensation by making salary information more accessible.
