The Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs has expressed satisfaction with the death sentence handed down to two individuals for the rape and murder of a child in Pallabi. The Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal for Child Violence Prevention delivered the verdict today, just 19 days after the incident occurred on May 19th. The court sentenced Sohail Rana and his wife Swapna Akter to death, also imposing fines of 500,000 taka and 200,000 taka respectively. The minister highlighted the swiftness of the judicial process, noting that the trial was completed in approximately six working days, a feat he described as unprecedented in Bangladesh's history. He voiced his hope that the verdict will be upheld if appealed to the higher courts.

This swift judicial action in a heinous crime sets a precedent for expedited justice in child abuse cases.
