Tanzania is poised to become a significant global uranium supplier, with the Mkuju River project expected to account for approximately 4% of world output once operations commence. This development in the Ruvuma Region is a strategic move to bolster Tanzania's position in the international mining and clean energy sectors.
The project is anticipated to create over 1,000 direct jobs and thousands more indirectly, with training programs already underway for local communities. The uranium produced will be dedicated solely to peaceful energy generation, meeting the increasing demand for clean electricity.
This initiative positions Tanzania as a key player in the global supply chain for nuclear energy, potentially boosting its economy and contributing to clean energy solutions.
