DODOMA: YAPI MERKEZI Company has begun settling a 2.6bn/- levy obligation owed to Nzega District Council, with the first instalment already paid as part of an agreed payment arrangement linked to the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). Yapi Merkezi, the contractor for a section of Tanzania's Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), has commenced payments for a 2.6 billion Tanzanian Shilling levy owed to the Nzega District Council. This obligation relates to construction minerals sourced from borrow pits within the council's jurisdiction for the Tabora to Isaka segment of the railway. The initial installment of 66 million Shillings was paid in March 2026, with a structured payment plan extending through March 2028.
