Poverty, neglect, abandonment, and family fragilities are pushing some children onto the streets, particularly in tourist areas like Sal, Boa Vista, Praia, and São Vicente. These situations often stem from domestic violence, substance abuse within families, and socioeconomic difficulties, leading to a breakdown in parental supervision and exposing children to grave risks. Although a small number of children live directly on the streets, a larger group spends extended hours there while still maintaining family ties.
