Παπαζάχος για σεισμούς στην Εύβοια: Μέσης σεισμικότητας η περιοχή – Δεν αποκλείουμε οποιοδήποτε ενδεχόμενο
Για τους ισχυρούς σεισμούς π ου σημειώθηκαν το μεσημέρι της Κυριακής (7/6) στη Βόρεια Εύβοια και έγιναν αισθητές και στην Αττική , μίλησε ο καθηγητής Σεισμολογίας του ΑΠΘ, Κώστας Παπαζάχος. «Μιλάμε για απανωτούς σεισμούς. Χρειάζεται λίγη υπομονή, καθώς οι αναλύσεις βρίσκονται σε εξέλιξη και είναι πιθανό να υπάρξουν διορθώσεις στα αυτόματα συστήματα», δήλωσε χαρακτηριστικά στην ΕΡΤ. A series of earthquakes were felt in Attica and Northern Evia on Sunday afternoon. Seismology professor Kostas Papazachos stated that while analyses are ongoing and adjustments to automatic systems may occur, the magnitude of the tremors is not currently considered significant. Earthquakes around magnitude 5 are common in Greece, happening approximately monthly in various regions. The strong perception of the tremors in Athens is attributed to the epicenter's proximity to the basin and seismic wave propagation. Even a larger event in the area is not expected to cause major issues in Attica, with impacts primarily affecting areas closer to the epicenter.
The earthquakes serve as a reminder of Greece's seismic activity and the need for preparedness, even in areas considered to have moderate to low seismicity.
