শিশু ধর্ষণ-হত্যা: আদালত বললেন, সমাজ আহত
ঢাকার পল্লবীতে আট বছরের শিশুকে ধর্ষণ ও হত্যার দায়ে সোহেল রানা ও তাঁর স্ত্রী স্বপ্না আক্তারকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দিয়েছেন ঢাকা মহানগর শিশু সহিংসতা দমন ট্রাইব্যুনাল। রায়ের পর্যবেক্ষণে আদালত বলেন, এমন জঘন্য অপরাধ পুরো সমাজকে গভীরভাবে আহত করে এবং রাষ্ট্রের ন্যায়বিচারব্যবস্থাকে প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ করে। দ্রুত তদন্ত ও বিচার কার্যক্রম শেষ হওয়ায় সন্তোষ প্রকাশ করে আদালত আসামিদের যথাক্রমে পাঁচ ও দুই লাখ টাকা জরিমানা করেন, যা ভুক্তভোগীর পরিবার পাবে।
A Dhaka court has sentenced Sohail Rana and his wife Swapna Akter to death for the rape and murder of an eight-year-old child in Pallabi. The Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal delivered the verdict, also imposing fines of five lakh and two lakh taka respectively on the convicts. In its observations, the court stated that such heinous crimes deeply wound society and cast doubt on the state's justice system.
