‘과수 괴질’ 과수 화상병 전국 확산…충북 등 전국 78농가 발병

A serious bacterial disease affecting fruit trees, known as fire blight, is spreading across South Korea. The disease has been confirmed in 78 farms nationwide, including in the Chungbuk province. This highly contagious illness poses a significant threat to apple and pear orchards, causing rapid wilting and death of branches and blossoms. Authorities are implementing quarantine measures and disinfection protocols to contain its spread and prevent further economic damage to the fruit farming sector.

The widespread outbreak of fire blight threatens the livelihoods of fruit farmers and the stability of the domestic fruit supply chain.
