A special parliamentary committee has recommended increasing the strategic reserve of fuel oil to at least three months' supply and diversifying import sources to tackle potential energy crises. The committee, formed to address recent energy challenges, presented its report in the national parliament. It emphasized that the current situation serves as a critical warning, necessitating structural reforms and infrastructure development for long-term energy security. Key proposals include automating the fuel supply system for digital monitoring, strengthening laws against hoarding and smuggling, and accelerating projects like the Dhaka-Chattogram pipeline and SPM. The committee also suggested increasing the use of alternative energy sources like LNG and renewables, and exploring private sector involvement in fuel imports. Additionally, mandatory rooftop solar panel installation and improved system loss reduction plans were advised.

These recommendations are crucial for ensuring Bangladesh's energy security and mitigating the impact of global energy market volatility.
