In May, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) resolved 5,209 criminal cases and 337 traffic violation cases through special metropolitan magistrate courts. These proceedings led to the sentencing of 5,953 individuals out of 9,923 arrested, with a total of over 2.2 million Taka collected in fines. Additionally, 39 special operations were conducted to maintain law and order, and 1,300 traffic cases were filed under the Road Transport Act, 2018. The immediate resolution of cases by these special courts aims to bolster public trust in the judiciary and law enforcement, while also instilling fear among potential offenders.
