Ευγενία βρισκόταν στο κρεβάτι της και κοιμόταν την στιγμή των σεισμικών δονήσεων . A powerful double earthquake struck northern Evia on Sunday, causing significant damage to homes, particularly in Dafnoussa. The residence of an 88-year-old woman was severely impacted, with large cracks appearing in the walls and stones falling from the ceiling onto her bed. The woman, who was asleep during the tremors, managed to escape her damaged home on her own. She expressed her distress and her desire to remain in her home, requesting assistance for repairs. Material damage has been reported in at least 15 houses in Dafnoussa and 10 in Prokopi, with authorities currently assessing the extent of the destruction.
The earthquakes highlight the vulnerability of residential buildings in the region to seismic activity and the immediate need for support for affected residents.
