Twin babies born conjoined at the abdomen in Goiânia, Goiás, have passed away due to complications from an infection. Bernardo developed a severe intestinal condition and suffered an irreversible cardiac arrest. Despite emergency surgery to separate him and his brother, Eduardo, the latter also did not survive. Medical teams made extensive resuscitation efforts during the nearly 50-minute procedure. The twins were scheduled for a separation surgery later in the week, but the medical emergency necessitated an immediate intervention. Their parents, from Tocantins, had relocated to Goiânia for specialized care during the pregnancy.
