Oyebanji intimidating opposition with security agencies, PDP alleges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has accused Governor Biodun Oyebanji of using security agencies to intimidate opposition members ahead of the upcoming governorship election. The PDP's deputy governorship candidate, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, claims that several party members have been arrested and harassed due to their political affiliations. He alleged that police are targeting opposition supporters on questionable grounds, creating an atmosphere of fear and hindering democratic participation.

Ogunsakin urged President Bola Tinubu and security authorities to investigate these claims and ensure a fair electoral process. He emphasized that political competition should be based on performance, not suppression of dissenting voices. The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, however, dismissed the allegations as false and an attempt to seek attention, suggesting the PDP direct their complaints to the relevant security agencies.

The allegations raise concerns about the fairness of the upcoming election and the protection of democratic rights for all political actors in Ekiti State.
