A powerful earthquake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, struck the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Monday. Following the tremor, tsunami warnings were issued by geological agencies in the Philippines and neighboring Indonesia, as well as the US tsunami warning system. While the earthquake was felt intensely in areas like Manado, Indonesia, and caused minor damage such as cracks in a police building in Alabel, Philippines, no major casualties or widespread destruction were immediately reported. The depth of the earthquake was recorded at 10 kilometers below the surface.
