PM mahu semua agensi bertindak terhadap salah guna visa untuk berniaga

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on illegal businesses operated by foreigners and the misuse of visas and local business licenses. He emphasized that this issue requires a unified effort from multiple government agencies, including the Inland Revenue Board, Customs, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, local authorities, MCMC, and Bank Negara Malaysia. The Prime Minister highlighted the need to verify trader licenses, ensure tax compliance, and strengthen immigration enforcement against visa abuse for business or work purposes.

Furthermore, the government seeks closer collaboration with business associations and hawkers' groups to identify illegal activities, as some associations have reportedly acted as intermediaries for foreigners seeking business licenses. The Prime Minister also indicated that technology, including AI, might be employed to enhance monitoring of illegal business operations, stressing a zero-tolerance policy towards any abuse that harms the economic opportunities of local citizens.

This initiative is crucial for protecting the economic interests and opportunities of local businesses and workers by curbing unfair competition from illegal foreign operations.
