খুলনার অপরাধজগৎ নিয়ে অনুসন্ধানে বারবার একটি নাম এসেছে—তৈমুর ইসলাম। পদে তিনি একজন পুলিশ পরিদর্শক। বর্তমানে খুলনা মহানগর পুলিশের ডিবিতে কর্মরত। কিন্তু ভুক্তভোগী, স্থানীয় সূত্র ও পুলিশের অভ্যন্তরীণ নথিতে তাঁর পরিচয় শুধু একজন পুলিশ সদস্যের মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ নয়; বরং মামলা, গ্রেপ্তার, ভয়ভীতি, অর্থ আদায় ও অপরাধী চক্রের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগের অভিযোগে তিনি খুলনায় এক ক্ষমতাকেন্দ্রে পরিণত হয়েছেন। আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের সময়ের আলোচিত আইজিপি বেনজীর আহমেদের ‘ঘনিষ্ঠজন’ হিসেবে তৈমুর পরিচিত ছিলেন।
