A recent survey conducted by Tajikistan's Anti-Corruption Agency reveals that the Ministry of Justice is perceived as the fourth most corrupt government body in the country. Within the ministry, the Civil Registry Office is the primary source of complaints, accounting for nearly half of all reported bribery incidents. State notary services follow closely, with these two departments combined representing over 83% of the corruption cases linked to the Ministry of Justice. Despite these findings, ministry officials have remained silent and have not provided a response to the allegations. Nationally, the education sector, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the healthcare system ranked as the top three most corrupt institutions. While a significant portion of citizens reported encountering bribery, the vast majority chose not to file formal complaints, often citing low wages and difficult living conditions as the primary drivers behind the widespread practice.
The report highlights systemic corruption within essential public services in Tajikistan, underscoring a significant lack of public trust and institutional accountability.
