This initiative aims to modernize national infrastructure, including the integration of 5G and 6G technologies, while enhancing cybersecurity, data centers, and postal services. Currently, Tajikistan’s connectivity landscape is heavily dominated by mobile internet, though fixed-line broadband is experiencing faster growth rates despite its limited reach. Officials identified significant digital disparities between urban centers like Dushanbe and remote, mountainous regions as a primary obstacle to progress. Furthermore, the country faces challenges regarding its reliance on a limited number of international transit routes for internet traffic. Funding for these upgrades will be sourced through a combination of state budget allocations, international grants, and private sector partnerships.
This strategy marks a critical shift in Tajikistan's national policy to bridge the digital divide and reduce dependency on external infrastructure, which is essential for the country's long-term economic and technological growth.
