Mixed picture on Latvian labour productivity
In the first quarter of 2026, labour productivity in the EU increased slightly by 0.1% based on both persons and hours worked, compared with the same quarter of the previous year, according to fresh Eurostat statistics.
Recent data released by Eurostat indicates a marginal rise in labor productivity across the European Union during the initial three months of 2026. When measured against the corresponding period from the previous year, efficiency levels grew by 0.1 percent. This calculation accounts for both the total number of individuals employed and the cumulative hours contributed to the workforce. While the growth remains modest, it reflects a slight upward trajectory in economic output per unit of labor. These figures provide a baseline for understanding current workforce performance trends within the bloc.
This data serves as a key indicator of the European Union's overall economic efficiency and workforce performance at the start of 2026.
