The heavy rain lashing Kerala for the past few days is likely to continue for two more days, driven by active monsoon conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Kasaragod, Kannur, and Kozhikode districts on Monday (June 8, 2026), where very heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours, while the rest of Kerala has been placed under a yellow alert, warning of isolated heavy rainfall.

A red alert warning of extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Kasaragod, Kannur, and Kozhikode districts on Tuesday (June 9), where extreme heavy rainfall is likely during the forecast period, while an orange alert has been issued for Malappuram and Wayanad districts.

The rest of Kerala has been placed under a yellow alert for the day, except for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts.
