Following the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) red alert warning of heavy rainfall over the next two days, Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikat convened a meeting on Monday with departmental officers and directed them to prepare for potential emergencies.

The meeting was attended by officers from the Revenue, Fire and Emergency Services, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Public Works, and other departments.

The DC instructed the officers to implement precautionary measures and directed senior officers to remain at headquarters to oversee preparations, deploying to the field as required.

The DC asked all departments to continuously monitor updates from the IMD. He directed the Revenue Department to identify suitable shelter sites for displaced persons. The Forest Department was instructed to clear weak and dry trees and branches to prevent hazards from falling timber. He advised officials to secure electrical wiring, ensure adequate drainage, and stock essential supplies, including drinking water, food, first-aid kits, and medicines.

The DC stated that the Forest Department oficials should clear weak and dry branches of trees to avoid any untoward incident.

Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil, DCF Ajjaiah, Additional DC Abhishek V. and others were present at the meeting.
