During the 8th Global Environment Facility Assembly in Samarkand, Tajikistan advocated for enhanced international financial support to assist vulnerable nations in addressing climate change. Bahodur Sheralizoda, head of the Committee for Environmental Protection, emphasized the need for simplified access to funding to facilitate climate adaptation, land restoration, and sustainable water management. He highlighted the importance of protecting mountain ecosystems and advancing green energy initiatives as central components of Tajikistan's national environmental strategy. Furthermore, the delegation showcased the country's proactive role in global environmental diplomacy, including President Emomali Rahmon's initiatives regarding glacier preservation and biodiversity. These efforts include the UN-recognized World Glacier Day and various long-term national reforestation programs. On the sidelines of the event, Tajik officials engaged in bilateral discussions to secure technical and financial partnerships for future ecological projects. These collaborations aim to strengthen the country's capacity to manage waste, combat plastic pollution, and promote sustainable development.

This appeal highlights the growing pressure on developing nations to secure international funding to mitigate the disproportionate impacts of climate change on fragile mountain ecosystems.
