The European Free Alliance (EFA) has unanimously adopted a declaration calling on Bulgaria to issue a formal apology for historical crimes committed against the Macedonian minority during the communist era. The document highlights that the current treatment of this minority represents a significant human rights crisis within the European Union, rooted in systematic assimilation policies from the Todor Zhivkov regime. Furthermore, the EFA urges Sofia to comply with 14 rulings from the European Court of Human Rights regarding the legal registration of Macedonian organizations.
