Nearly 295 kg of ganja seized in 26 cases by excise officials in Khammam district was incinerated on Monday following orders issued by Khammam Deputy Commissioner Janardhan Reddy.
A total of 294.8 kg of the contraband was incinerated at AWM Counselling Limited in Gopalpet village of Wyra mandal under the supervision of excise officials.
According to the Excise Department, the destroyed ganja included 114.415 kg seized by Khammam-I Excise Station, 17.59 kg by Khammam-II Excise Station, 113.29 kg by Wyra Excise Station, 46.51 kg by Madhira Excise Station and 5.99 kg by Sathupalli Excise Station.
The incineration was carried out by Assistant Commissioner Ganesh along with Excise Inspectors and other department personnel in accordance with directions issued by the Deputy Commissioner.
Officials said the destroyed marijuana had an estimated value of ₹1.47 crore. The contraband had been seized in various cases registered by five excise stations across the district.
