Six persons were booked by KPHB Police for allegedly erecting unauthorised banners containing objectionable and defamatory content against the Bharatiya Janata Party and Lok Sabha member Eatala Rajender on a foot overbridge in KPHB.
According to police, the banners were displayed on the KPHB Foot Over Bridge and allegedly contained false and objectionable content aimed at tarnishing the image and reputation of the BJP and the MP among the public.
The accused were identified as Janyavula Ramakrishna, 51, Gajula Rakesh, 34, Syed Qudruth Ahmed, 50, Syed Mehraj, 35, Shaik Kaleem, 31, and Naseer Uddin alias Afroze, 32.
Police said Syed Qudruth Ahmed, Syed Mehraj, Shaik Kaleem and Naseer Uddin were apprehended on June 6 and served notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Janyavula Ramakrishna and Gajula Rakesh were apprehended on June 7 and served similar notices.
A case was registered by KPHB Police under Sections 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators alleged that the banners were deliberately erected with the intention of damaging the reputation and goodwill of the political party and the Member of Parliament.
